Short Term Economic Development Strategy For the City of Lompoc


Short Term Goals:

1.    Define City Business Incentives

2.    Streamline City Permit Process

3.    Implement City Code Enforcement

4.    Organize Lompoc Valley Economic Development Committee of stakeholders to develop Economic Development strategy and implementation plan. After Economic Development Strategy is written and adopted by Committee, meet monthly to implement, discuss and review progress.


Existing Enterprises

  First priority is supporting existing enterprises as the best source of business expansion and local job growth. Focus on promoting local entrepreneurship to build locally based industries and businesses that can succeed among national and international competitors.


 

Youth Programs

  Continue the WIB Summer Youth Employment Program in Lompoc. The program trains youth (14-24 years old) on how to dress, act and work in an office or outdoor setting. Youth are placed into SBC city and non-profit jobs during the summer months. Summer 2010 employed 350 youth countywide.

  Continue the WIB Santa Barbara Youth Corps in Lompoc.
